Throw Back Thursday-Moving Day

One year ago today, we made the move across country from Georgia to Kansas .It was a huge leap of faith to follow our hearts and move closer to our family. Over the last year I gave birth to our Little Man, made lots of friends, fell in love with a new church family, enriched the relationships with our families, and grown more in love with eachother.
I did not know how blessed we would be when we made that decision a year ago, but I thank God everyday for pricking our hearts to follow his lead.
We have lived in my parent's basement for the last year and can't thank them enough for the support and encouragement they have given us. I can say from both side that it had not always been easy to live with them, but it has always been a blessing. I keep thinking "how on earth would I have survived this last year of motherhood had it not been for my families support". So thank you Mom and Dad for showing is how to be as amazing of parents as you. And thank you to my In-Laws for always willing to take Little Man off our hands when we needed a break.
We have started the process of finally finding a home of our own and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us

When I married Hubby he had gone on exactly 2 family vacations out of state. This was very strange to me because growing up we went on a big family vacation every year. I have been to well over half of the states, and my goal is to hit all of them eventually. So we have slowly began to introduce Hubby to the experience of family vacations.

We have been on quite a few  vacations in the past 3 years, but by far my favorite was our Disney trip in April 2012.
Not sure what is up with Hubby's smile here
This was the 3rd time I have been to Disney, but the first in the last 15 years. We took the trip with my parents and had an awesome time. My favorite part was the light show and fireworks over Cinderella's Castle. If you have not experienced it, you should. They do some amazing things and I was in awe.

I have a "tradition" when I go to Disney. I go to the souvenir shop, buy an autograph book, and stand in those ridiculous lines to get my picture taken with all the characters. Hubby thought I was ridiculous, but as you can see he was in every picture with me, just like a good husband should. I will admit though that it wasn't as much fun as it was as a kid, and it was super hot sanding in those lines.

We also took pictures with every hat we could find. Believe me there were some interesting ones.

If your looking for an interesting place to eat try the drive-in restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You eat in these awesome cars and watch old movies.
Over all it was an awesome trip, and I can't wait to take Little Man in a few years.

Throw Back Thursday-The Honeymoon

I have been CRAVING the beach lately. My Grandma used to live in Florida so I would go every summer to visit her and spend time at the beach. With the new baby and Hubby's busy summer schedule, we don't have the time/money to take a trip to the beach. So I decided to reminisce about our honeymoon we took to the Caribbean.

Hubby and I took an 8 day cruise to the Caribbean and hit all the hot spots. Our ports were San Juan, St Thomas, Tortola, Antigua and Nassau. We had an awesome time and soaked up a lot of sun.

**Please excuse all pictures they were either taken from my old crappy camera, or a waterproof disposable one.**

Highlights from the trip included snorkeling in Antigua:

 Sight seeing in St Thomas:

Swimming in Tortola:

Visiting Senor Frog in San Juan:

Seeing this crazy man drum for 6+ hours:

And going to the most amazing water park in Nassau:

To sum it all up we had an amazing time, and I wish that we could be near a beach right now.

Throw Back Thursday-DC Cupcakes

Its another Throw Back Thursday! This week I decided to talk about our trip to DC in 2011. My sister was living in Washington DC for an internship and so we took a weekend trip to see her. This was Hubby's first time in DC and we hit all of the top spots and had an awesome time.

One place we hit was Georgetown Cupcakes, this is the cupcake store that is featured on TLC's DC Cupcakes. These are TO DIE FOR!!!

We had to wait in a REALLLY long line. It wrapped around the block, and since it was in July in DC, it was really hot as well. Luckily they passed out water to the waiting crowds.

So for my TBT (Throw Back Thursday) I thought I would share an embarrassing story about my sister and I. We are about 2 and a half years apart NEVER got along when we were little. Once I moved out of the house though, we became really close (weird I know, but I think we are better off if we don't live together). In December 2009 we decided to make an "album" for our Christmas presents to our family. We are both singers and my sister has some kind of unnatural talent to be able to pick up an instrument and figure out how to play it. At the time she was going to college at a school that specialized in music and so they had awesome practice rooms she could use to record the instruments for our "album". When she came in town for Christmas break we spent 3 days locked in her room recording our songs. All of them were covers to our favorite artists, featuring Ingrid Michaelson, Johnny Cash, Regina Spector and more.
By the end of those 3 days we were finished with an album that was at most sub-par, but good enough for our family. We decided that we needed an album cover so we called my photographer friend Josh and he did a photo shoot. Here are the results:
My sister had what I called "Zach Effron" hair at the time
We think we are so cool looking, what were we thinking?!

My family was so ecstatic about this ridiculous album that immediately all of the present opening ceased and they put it into the CD player. We then heard ourselves for the first time, and both just looked at each other and buried our faces in embarrassment. Our family though loved it. To this day, almost 4 years later I still get calls from my mom and grandmother saying that they were missing us and so they popped the CD in.

What about you? Link up and share a story about your past.
