The Boy Behind the Blog #12

This is the last official link up for Boys Behind the Blog. Can you believe we have had 12 link ups? Crazy!! I plan on searching for a new way to showcase Hubby here on the blog. If you know of any other Husband link-ups or are interested in starting a new one with me just shoot me an email.
1. What was your first job?
McDonalds. I had just turned 16 and believe it or not for the first 2 weeks I really liked that job, then not so much.
2. What is the biggest risk you've ever taken?
I'm not really a risk taker, so I guess I would say dating Jaime for the last time. We had both decided that if we dated we would either get married, or no longer remain friends. Our Story Here
3. What is one thing you can't live without?
Cable...we no longer have cable, because my wife decided that we needed to no longer have cable since "everyone" else is doing it. I give it 3 months!
4. What is your least favorite food? Mac & Cheese. Just looking at it makes me want to vomit.
5. If you could time travel, where/when would you go? Saturday Oct. 26 and Sunday Oct. 27, 1985 in Kansas City, MO to watch the Kansas City Royals win their first (and most likely only) World Series title. I have a feeling they will never win another...
I hope you have enjoyed the Boys Behind the blog link-up as much as we have. I love that Hubby gets his own little space on the blog. Hopefully soon I will find another way to feature him, but until then I'll give him a little break.

The Boy Behind the Blog #11

It's time for your monthly dose of Hubby. Last month we asked each husband/significant other to post a question that they would like to see. Here are the 5 questions that were chosen.

1. Your significant other’s blog; a blessing or a curse? - Joe @ Another Clean Slate
Blessing.  I sometimes miss the little details while I'm at work and it's good to see what my family is up to while I'm gone.
2. Do you read your wife's (or insert relationship to blogger here) blog? Brian @ Heather's Hurrah
Yes. I try to read every post she makes.
3. What is one thing you can do better than anyone you know?- Justin @ Our Fairy Tale
I have a really good memory. I can remember random facts about things and what people say.
Jaime here he does have an awesome memory. He will remember specific details about dates like what movie we saw, where we ate and what I wore. Although he fails to "remember" to take the trash out or something after I ask him sometimes. I think his memory is selective sometimes or maybe just his hearing ;) love you babe.
4. What is your favorite TV sitcom from the 90's? - Sam @ Jessie Jo At Home
Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond
5. If you were opening a small business or shop, what would it be? What goods or services would you sell? Nate @Kate & Trudy
Something sports themed. Apparel store or restaurant would be cool.

Hubby's question from last time wasn't chosen, but we will make him answer it anyway.
6. Name 5 reason why you love your wife.
-when she is overtired she gets really giggly and loosens up
-I love that she has gotten me to actually care about my appearance more.  I have graduated out of cargo shorts and graphic tees, well most of the time
-I love that she is so adamant that she doesn't snore but she definitely does
-I love that she has a dudes appetite,  one of her favorite foods is wings. She likes to eat things that I would normally eat with my guy friends
-I love that she makes me want to be a better husband and father.

Comedy, I like to laugh. I will only go see a scary movie if John Langley goes with me.

Our First Anniversary

Last week I did a link-up about unexpected moments in marriage. Today's topic is about our first year anniversary.

Our anniversary is the First of October and at the time we were living in the Atlanta area. Friends of ours made us a fantastic steak dinner, including some very addicting bacon wrapped green beans. Afterwards Hubby surprised me by getting us a hotel for the night downtown and tickets for a show. My very favorite musical Wicked was in town playing at the fabulous Fox Theater. I had already seen it twice before, but Hubby had never seen a professional musical before. Trust me if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing this musical, it is a must. Even if you don't like musicals (like Hubby) you will enjoy this one.

After our dinner we drove downtown to our hotel, took a stroll around the area, and then called it a night. The next day we got all gussied up and walked to the theater. As we were walking to the theater, we saw tons of people dressed like they were going to a night club, only it was in the afternoon. Little did we know that the BET Awards show was in town for the night and we were asked many times if we were getting on the shuttle buses to go to the show.

We stopped at a local restaurant next door to the theater for lunch and then hit the afternoon show of Wicked. After the show we headed out to dinner. We found a Groupon for a local steakhouse, and when we got there at 5 o'clock we realized that this was a local hot spot for the 60+ crowed. I think we lowered the median age by about 30 years the moment we walked in. We ordered our lackluster dinner and headed home.

All in all it was a great anniversary. We had some good stories to tell and some memories that we will never forget.

It has changed from talking about how we met to talking about the baby.

My favorite post is the story on how we got together because there are things that I forgot about and it is good to be reminded.

The Unexpected Moments In Marriage and Growing Together

As most of you know I frequently read the blog Wifessionals. Lately she has started a link up about her first year of marriage. Although I have been married almost 3 years, I thought I would give my perspective on this week's topic.

The Unexpected Moments
Boy does life in general bring unexpected moments, but marriage adds another dimension. We were married in October 2010, and since then gone through some HUGE life changes. You can read about our growing family and our love story to find out about some unexpected times in our life. Most recently though our biggest unexpected moment was our move back to Kansas and the new job. These are definitely the hardest and most life changing things that have happened to us. But all three of them have brought us eminence joy and we thank God everyday for helping us see His plan.
Through all of our unexpected moments, we have learned to lean on each other and God through all of it. We often will pray in bed together to ask God for guidance and patience. The hardest part is trusting that if we let go then God can handle it. I am a self-diagnosed control freak, and Hubby is very laid back. It often drives me crazy, but he I know that he is there to help calm me down and put things back into perspective.

How We Have Grown Together
One of the hardest parts about our marriage was moving immediately to Georgia, 1000 miles away from the life we have always known.  This however became a blessing because it made us rely totally on each other. We were best friends before we got married, but our relationship now is so much stronger. We were living in a new city and had no friends, so we spent every bit of our time together. The friendship we have now is more than I ever imagined I could experience, and to add Little Man to the mix has brought it  all to a whole.
I thank God for helping me to realize that life could be so much more than it was before I married Hubby. He completes me and I love him times infinity (our little saying).

What were some unexpected moments in your marriage?
